We’re not usually ones for fad diets over at Haute Fitness but the 5:2 diet has got our attention. Intermittent fasting was the subject of BBC documentary ‘’Eat, Fast, Live Longer’ months ago and works by limiting calories for two days a week, while eating normally the rest of the time. Studies seem to show that this can help individuals lose and control their weight, and there are other cognitive benefits as well. The 5:2 diet uses the principles of intermittent fasting, and works by limiting the body to 500 calories for two days a week.

Backed up by science, we have been really inspired to try it by Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall who, not known for being a serious dieter or for worrying about his weight, has credited it with helping him lose weight. So, to get started we’ve just bought this new recipe book by Angela Dowden featuring tasty 100, 200 and 300 calories recipes as well as diet and snack advice. This recipe for Garlic Mushrooms with Spinach & Crispy Bacon sounds tasty!
